Hi Margaret, heres an nice little about coincidence. As we're doing some building work including getting a new shed I was on line trying to get some idea of the shadows it might cast on my neighbours. In desperation, having tried many key phrases to get an online 'Shadow calculator', I just typed in 'shed shadows' and incredibly your post was first on the list of returned results ( see below*).....now that my Camino Forum friend is a heck of a coincidence don't you think!

lololol that is very funny!!!! One of the reasons this fascinated me is that I couldn't work out for the life of me how these shadows were cast as they were given their shape and the sun's angle. But cast like this they were. One thing I learned from my camera course is that there is huge variation at different times of the year in the sun's position relative to us in our little possie on earth, and hence the direction of the sunlight. So I am not sure there is an easy answer.
Hope you had a great day!

I did indeed Michèle! Though for the life of me, I can't quite work out why these shadows and light patterns fall as they do....
