328: river high

The rain stopped and the sunshine finally returned this afternoon- but the river is running fast and high...
and hrmmmmphhh the forecast is for gale force winds tomorrow.

327: here comes the rain again...

Here comes the rain again..... November has been like that. Sigh. At least the wind doesn't seem to be quite as strong as it was a few days ago  -not yet anyhow...

226: raindrops on daisies

It is supposed to turn very cold later today, but for today it is just showering rain, and the daisies look quite beautiful with raindrops on their petals. The tui is also singing in the rain- and just alighted in the camellia tree near the house. A feast for the ears and eyes- thank you tui!

225: signs of spring

I took a short walk in the Esplanade again today, and there are more and more signs that spring is about to arrive. There are bulbs, many more lilies, magnolia and azalea flowers galore. In fact I have decided I can't just leave you with one photo- besides the lily buds you also get to see a magnolia flower ready to burst forth.

The magnolia buds from the other day have opened out a bit more- and have become distinctly 'wetter'!

169: looks like winter

Looks like winter, feels like winter.... but it is nearly the Shortest Day after all.

116: Forlorn

 

I saw this trailer hoisted into the sky by this crane on Saturday when I passed. At the time the skies were very blue, and I thought it would have made a humorous 365 photo, but I never had my camera with me. It was still hanging there today, as many workers have been given the day off since we 'missed' a public holiday on Anzac Day this year. But oh how very forlorn the trailer looks in today's rain, hanging so lonely by itself. 

I had to take the photo through the windscreen as it was far too wet to get out of the car. And even then, I had to keep turning the key on between shots to make the wipers work, so the trailer could actually be seen through the raindrops on the windscreen. (I needn't have bothered: as it turned out, my first shot was the best one!)

115: Anzac Rain

It's Anzac Day here today, when we remember our fallen soldiers. And the rain is pouring down from the skies above. Underneath the seat on the deck are a whole group of spiderwebs that look quite beautiful. I couldn't work out how to take a photograph of them, especially as I could only bring out the camera so briefly... but here is just a 'taste' of the beauty the rain has brought.

97: exquisite beauty

 I know I have posted a photo of a 'partial' dandelion before, but I thought that the tiny raindrops on this one today were just beautiful. Exquisite, like the tiniest of jewels.

95: feijoas

 

I woke this morning to a grey drizzly day, hardly one to get enthused over.

But then as I sat at the table to eat breakfast, I noticed the beginnings of fruit on the feijoa tree, just outside the window. Such a simple thing instantly brought a lift in my 'joy' levels!

39: Raindrops

It hasn't quite seemed fair or right lately, that in February, which should be our most summery month, in our part of the country we have had a succession of dull, drizzly, grey days. They've not been cold days- yesterday was 26C and humid- but grey drizzle isn't fun in February.

So it was with a sigh I thought about today's 365 photo..... until I headed out into the garden. Raindrops on leaves and spiderwebs bring so many little surprises, unexpected little jewels of beauty. And here is the one I chose to share....

31: Convolvulus with raindrops

Days are numbered for this convolvulus flower, on one of the many vines that have invaded the native trees in my back garden. If today had been fine, it would have been ripped from its dwelling place. But it has rained, so it is safe for another day. The raindrops look so heavy on its delicate petals. I hate being violent towards such beauty!

23: Raindrops on the Rhodo

I realise this is the first day in my 365/365 project that I have been faced with a rainy day for taking a photo. So I decided to just take some quick photos of raindrops on plants outside in the garden.
