I caught the train one morning from Bergerac to Sarlat. It was a very beautiful ride through the countryside in the Dordogne area. Sarlat has a medieval centre and I gather it is crowded with tourists in summer. Here is just one of many beautiful medieval buildings.
I saw this spiral pattern on a column just outside the cathedral. It reminded me immediately of spiral koru patterns in Maori art based on the unfurling fern.
