This statue - Solace in the Wind- by the sea near Te Papa in Wellington is usually naked- but he seems to have acquired some All Blacks clothes ahead of the RWC semi-finals...
That is soooo cool. I pass that everytime I walk around the waterfront! He looks a whole lot better clothed I think! It sure is going to be a big weekend.
Anne I was pretty surprised to see him clothed!! Michèle, I had just assumed he was made of bronze- but I just read it is iron. I imagine he would be rusting up all the time in that position on the harbour- so maybe he is not as 'permanent' looking as he appears.

It looks as if they cleaned the statue because in a photo I found on the web (I was curious as to how it looked unclothed), it is covered in rust.
