Yes, I have sung it a few times too, and loved it. Occasionally there is a 'sing-along' Messiah in town. But somehow the 'informality' and unpredictability of this shop setting appeals to me!
I sat here in complete and joyful shock! Kiwi, I think you've figured out I'm in the US...but...that's one of my favorite stores! I've been there too many times to count. When I worked in Philly, I took the subway up to the University and back, and would get off and come into the store thur the basement level. Wow! The organ is famous and lovely, and it used to be the John Wanamakers flagship store. This is where everyone would go to see the Christmas light show (in the days before computers ran all that stuff!) Thank you for sharing...wish to heck I'd been there. Wow....
Years ago I sang as a chorus member in Handel's Messiah several times - first as a tenor, then as bass. An absolutely fantastic experience!
