I woke this morning to a grey drizzly day, hardly one to get enthused over.
But then as I sat at the table to eat breakfast, I noticed the beginnings of fruit on the feijoa tree, just outside the window. Such a simple thing instantly brought a lift in my 'joy' levels!
nom nom nom ....but directing us towards the cold season tho :(
ReplyDeleteInteresting tree. I've probably never heard or seen of it, or at least not focused on it. Good to eat? So green. Late in the summer here, most trees don't seem nearly as green as that.
ReplyDeleteMany of our trees, especially the native ones, don't lose their leaves. It's the introduced exotic ones that show autumn colours.

ReplyDeleteInteresting, reminds me of a kiwi in its shape and method of eating! On the website of the Association of growers there is a picture of a pavlova with slices of feijoa fruit on top. And it also says you can use the fruit in pies instead of apples or bananas. Yum!
ReplyDeleteThey are very yum. But they are 'acidic'- though they don't taste like they are. And having a tree just outside means I did eat too many a few years beakc and ended up with hives- something I hadn't had since I was a child!
ReplyDeleteFeijoas = happiness :)
