a curious cat

Finally, my Massey essay was done and the sun was shining- so I went visiting a friends' farm with my new dslr in hand for a bit more practice. Their cat seemed rather curious about my endeavours.....

..... and kept appearing around different corners...... Did the cat know I was a novice? I have lost some of my initial trepidation about using the camera....but still have a lot to learn before I feel I am in control of the camera, rather than randomly receiving its automatic offerings!

  1. very clear quality photos Kiwi. I have one of those water proof/shock proof cameras and the quality is a bit hit and miss I am afraid..

  2. I am looking forward to experimenting over summer.... I love the little small digital I had for the Camino- and will always use a small one when walking- but I was getting frustrated with its limitations!

  3. dslr? I assume that is a camera. A fancy one? The cat seems well pleased anyway!

  4. Digital Single Lens Reflex. I used to have a lovely single lens reflex camera in 'film' days. But the price of the digital version meant I stuck with a compact digital. For walking it is ideal as it just fits on my backpack belt and is easily whipped out for use. But I was starting to find some of its limitations annoying. There is a bit of a learning curve before I feel confident with the dslr though.

  5. Hey Margaret, guess what we just bought a new DSLR, Nikon D3000. It is our winter project, to learn how to use it and maybe end up with some artsy pictures for our walls! Have fun,

  6. From my experience, it does take some practice with it.... once my exam is over at the beginning of November I hope to take it outside with me and do some summer pictures!!! Mine is a Canon EOS 1000D- bottom of the EOS range but more than I could really afford ;-)
